Transcriber

I've just received a job to transcribe an mp3 file. And I thought, what the heck .. This is just a piece of cake ... With my skill in typing, I'll just type the mp3 file in no time.

And as i started the job as a transcriber... i found out that it's really not that easy as i thought it was. One has to be familiar with the topic assigned. Because there will be a lot of jargons that the speakers will say and no matter how a transcriber that is unfamiliar with the topic listens to it over and over again there is a high chance that he's not really going to understand the word. Aside from that, it's quite hard to distinguish one person's speech from the other. The people speaking in an audio file sounds so much alike. Unless you're also familiar with the persons involved then in that way, transcribing will be pretty easy. Moreover, there are certain points wherein two people are both talking at the same time, it is quite hard to comprehend what they were saying. And most of all, the speakers most of the time has so many fillers and nonsense words that they insert in the sentences. So it's really hard to come up with comprehensible sentences.

I also thought that P400 is not enough for an hour audio. It really eats up a lot of time to just transcribe a minute of an mp3 file. I thought i have already done so much in an hour, but as i looked at the number of minutes of audio that i was able to transcribe... It was only roughly 10 minutes. And I still have to go back and polish the 10 minutes of mp3 because there are still a lot of lacking words and incomprehensible sentences.

Well, i guess the moral here is there wouldn't really be an easy job. There will always be something on the job that really makes it hard to finish. And if you don't really enjoy doing it, then it is more likely that a person in that field won't be succeeding.

The Sigma Protocol

New bookie to read!!!!

I heard a lot of good comments about the author, Robert Ludlum so i went ahead and bought one of his books.

I haven't finished his book yet but one thing that I noticed about his writing, it was a bit "descriptive". Descriptive not in a way that you're-gonna-get-bored descriptive, but in a way that you're-going-to-understand-it-more kind of descriptive. He also showed the reason why his characters are reacting in a certain way. He's actually good in brewing things up just like Dan Brown.

I've never been fond of thriller books before. I usually pass thru it in bookstores. But the similarity that Ludlum and Brown has was they were able to showcase their thriller books in a way that non - thriller lovers would get the hang of it and anyone would enjoy reading.

I' m still not finished reading the book but so far so good. And I would definitely recommend it to be added to your must read books.

Robbhood

Finally I was able to watch another movie again. I've been quite busy so I don't have enough time to watch a movie anymore.
This cute movie of course is packed with Jackie Chan's stunts and funny tricks. It also felt weird when I came inside the movie house and heard the Chinese - English voice over. I haven't seen a chinese film for a long time so it felt really weird hearing it again. While watching the movie, it seems like Jackie Chan never aged. I don't know if it's just me but Jackie Chan's face is still the exact face and moves since Drunken Master.
This movie also has a little baby that moved me. I can't help but cry when they left the little baby in a cold room.

New Template

Yipee!!! I've finally learned on how to get a new template right!!!

But I still have to learn a lot of things on how to navigate and add bling blings on my blog...

I chose this color because it's refreshing. It's simple and it's girly because of the little flowers at the top. I think i'm cool with this one for now. I'm also doubting on adding more pictures to it because it might ruin the simplicity of the template.

Suggestions...Anyone?
